After an enthralling opening ceremony which marked the beginning of IPL's 3rd edition, the cricket that followed was T20 at its exciting best. Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers had a good, yet throughly unpredictable match. Arun Lal and N.S.Siddhu had both sided with Dada's seemingly rejuvinated team at the start of the match, but with 0-2 on the board in just 4 deliveries, they would have definitely thought of changing sides.
And as we all would know, what followed was 3 hrs of entertainment. Sixes, wickets, dives, runs, the match had all. And, not to mention, the cheerleaders too. Worst part was, some cheerleaders danced at Sourav's dismissal here in Kol at a multiplex!
Coming back to the cricket, this year's IPL might well turn out to be the best, in terms of the quality of cricket. With almost all teams having strengthened their sides with management replacements or new players, it can be a bit difficult to call this year's champions.
As Ravi Shastri puts it, KKR and MI could be this year's dark horses. With the 200* to his back now, Sachin seems to be in full gear and with players like Pollard, MI is definitely a strengthened unit.
KKR also looks good with the availability of Saurashtra star Cheteshwar Pujara and local talents Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Wriddhiman Saha. What typically sets KKR out is the presence of good and talented international players in Gayle, McCullum and Bond. Coming from Kolkata, it is quite inevitable that I'd want KKR to win, specially after underperforming for two consecutive years.
The bowling looks good with Langeveldt coming in with his experience. Fast bowlers hunt in pairs, but the question is, can Ishant deliver?
In the midst of all, KKR took off with one win, but consistency is what IPL demands. And the one thing KKR fans would be looking out for is this consistency to continue for the next 44 days.
